Sharing a meal with family and friends is something very special in the Italian culture and last Friday, March 21st we were thrilled to celebrate this tradition with our members at our Italian Wine Dinner. The signature wines, delicious food and lively conversations truly transformed our club into a Trattoria on the Oval.
Pasta, meatballs and pizza are certainly Italian favorites and the 1st dishes that come to mind when thinking about Italian cuisine, but what about honey & almond stuffed chicken or cake infused with semifredo? The Club’s Executive Chef, Josh Harris, aimed to create a menu that would offer our members Italian cuisine that they have not experienced before. He dug deep into the roots of the authentic Italian flavor of the wine regions featured and presented a 5 course menu that ignited interest. To view the evening’s full menu please click here. Guests appreciated the ethnic flare and fine detail put into each specific course. The flavors of each dish were designed to complement the region that its wine pairing was from allowing the region and particular flavor of the wine to shine.
Five different Italian cities spanning across the boot of Italy were represented with the wine being served: Fruili, Puglia, Sicily, Veneto & Piemont. A Wine Sommelier representing the Zonin family of wines guided the conversation throughout the evening, introducing each wine and answering member’s questions. Recently returning from a trip to Italy, he was able to share a wealth of knowledge and firsthand experience.
Guests also had the opportunity to try a little taste of Italy from right here in Columbus, OH. The meal featured a variety of homemade Italian breads from one of our favorite local bakeries, Auddino’s Italian Bakery.
