As much as we all love Thanksgiving, sometimes that can be a tricky day for those who want to enjoy a delicious meal with their family but have dietary restrictions. Here at The Club, our Executive Chef Josh Harris is always prepared to make accommodations and scrumptious alternatives for those who may need them. As the holiday approaches next week, we wanted to share a few ideas with you for those looking for some Vegetarian, Vegan, or Gluten-Free options at the dinner table.
Did you know that 3.2 percent of U.S. adults, or 7.3 million people, follow a vegetarian diet? Approximately 0.5 percent, or 1 million, of those are vegans, who consume no animal products at all. In addition, 10 percent of U.S. adults, or 22.8 million people, say they largely follow a vegetarian-inclined diet, so very little meat or seafood. If you’re looking for some Vegetarian or Vegan options, other than Tofurky, look below for some great dishes! They’re all Vegetarian, and the Vegan ones are noted.
Roasted Carrot, Parsnip, and Potato Soup (can be made vegan with Vegetable Stock and eliminating the dairy garnish)
Brussels Sprouts Sliders (Vegan)
Pueblo Corn Pie (Vegan)
Caramelized Onion and Fennel Risotto (includes instructions to make Vegan)
Candied Sweet Potatoes (Vegan)
Another dietary restriction we are seeing more commonly these days is a Gluten-Free diet. Some do this by choice and others don’t, but fear not, there are plenty of recipes to be enjoyed without gluten! Whether they just don’t call for bread or pasta, or substitutions can be made, there are definitely a variety of choices.
If you won’t be enjoying Chef Josh’s Thanksgiving Feast, we hope you find these recipes helpful for entertaining all at the table this holiday. Eat, Drink (Wine is Gluten-Free!), and Enjoy!
