As many of you know, The Faculty Club is host to a multitude of Weddings, Rehearsal Dinners, Engagement Parties, Bridal Showers, and even Speed Dating events. People have been celebrating their love at The Faculty Club for many years now. But did you know, people have found their special someone while working here at The Club?
First, we’d like to introduce to you Teri and Ricky Dehner. Teri came to Columbus from Strongsville, OH (outside of Cleveland) and Ricky grew up in Canal Winchester. Ricky worked at The Club as a server beginning in the Fall of 2003 and Teri began a year later in 2004. They met for the first time in passing during a Sunday Brunch shift and then got to know one another during an evening dinner shift in Colleagues. They both enjoyed the Faculty Club employee outings, especially those to the Clipper’s Games. This lovely couple actually got married right here at The Faculty Club this past summer. Congratulations Teri & Ricky!
Next, we’d like you to meet Maria and Nick LaFountain, who got married this past May. They met here as servers back in 2008. Maria got her Bachelor’s from Ohio State in Pharmaceutical Sciences and her Doctorate in Pharmacy, while Nick got his Bachelor’s in Radiography and is currently a medical student. Maria has fond memories of playing “Apples to Apples” with fellow servers in between events. Nick also built long lasting friendships with other servers, one of which, Matt Patterson, went on to be the best man in their wedding. In the picture below of Maria and her bridesmaids, you may recognize two of those faces. Her Maid of Honor, standing directly to the right of her, is her sister and our very own Director of Catering, Diana Biasella. Immediately to her left is another sister and one of our servers, Sara Biasella. This family certainly means a lot to all of us here at The Club! Congratulations to Maria and Nick!
Lastly, we’d like to tell you all a little bit about Braxton and Polly Ann. Braxton and Polly met here at The Faculty Club back in 1947 when they were both servers. Polly came from New Madison, Ohio and attended Ohio State with the Alumni Scholars Program and studied Home Economics in the School of Agriculture. Braxton, from Hamilton, Ohio, got out of the Service and he attended Ohio State on the GI Bill to study Education. He graduated in 1949 and she followed a year later in 1950, the same year they got married. When talking about the housing she lived in, that didn’t have dinner on Sundays, Polly said “He used his GI stipend to buy me Sunday dinners and take care of me and I’ve hung on to him ever since!” Thank You for stopping by for lunch recently and Congratulations on nearly 66 years of marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Tewart!
Thank You all for letting the Faculty Club be a part of your lives and may we wish you all a beautiful lifetime of love and happiness!
